KORUS' KABARET is the story of a family of artists who perform cabaret in an opressed society. The family has made a pact with a mysterious being, and have been given the power to create dolls from the deceased, and have the ability to bring these dolls to life and control them. Each time there is a birth in the family, all the dead members of the family come alive for one hour. The opera was concieved as a multi-media opera, with many specially created film sequences.

Erik Bach was born in 1946 and has composed over 80 works - many in an easily accessible and highly tasteful style. He trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in music theory/music history as well as composition, taking his diploma in 1976. He is also a graduate in musicology from Aarhus University and has recently taken the new degree course in music technology at Aalborg University. Much of his working life has been spent in administration and teaching: he was principal of the North Jutland Academy of Music in Aalborg from 1978 until 1992, principal of the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Århus from 1992 until 2001 and then a lecturer at the Academy in Århus. Since 2004 he has been Director of the Danish Institute for Science and Art in Rome, and has also been a membere of the board of the European Association of Conservatories, the Nordic Council of Conservatories and the Danish Music Council. Erik Bach has written many works in different genres - opera, orchestra works, brass band, choir, chambermusic and solo works. All of Erik Bach´s works have been performed in Denmark and abroad by well established artists, ensembles and symphony orchestras

Adda Djørup was born in 1972 and has lived abroad for many years, mainly in Madrid og Florence. She holds a BA i Literature and made her authorial debut in 2005 with a collection of poetry called Monsieurs monologer. Since then she has published a collection of short stories entitles 'Hvis man begyndte at spørge sig selv' (Samleren 2007) and the novel 'Den mindste modstand' (Samleren 2009). A collection of poems entitled '37 Postkort' is planned for autumn 2011. She has received numerous awards and prizes, most notably the E.U. literature prize in 2010, and has recently been awarded a three year working grantt from the Danish Arts Council. KORUS' KABARET is her first opera libretto.
